
Joe Connor
Joe Connor is a boatbuilder born on the Chesapeake bay and spent half of his 20 year career in St Michaels restoring and building traditional wood boats for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Recently serving as the lead shipwright responsible for the Maryland Dove construction project which replicated the 1634 British pinnace. The six million dollar vessel now serves as the official tall ship of the State of Maryland. Previously he has built and restored boats in various far flung places and was selected as 2023 Builder in Residence at the Antique Boat Museum. In his younger days Joe captained schooners in New York Harbor and piloted sailboats through Central and South America. When not in the shop, his greatest passions are his family and surfing.
