Last year, Pat Mahon and his class completed a full survey of SKOOKUM, a 1943 Quincy-built, full keel, Herreshoff 12 1/2. The diagnosis was a full restoration. They started the process, but plenty of work is still needed.
This course is a fantastic opportunity to put into practice so many of the skills we offer in our boatbuilding and woodworking courses. Pat will guide the work as you replace frames, planks, floor timbers and even fashion a new transom. It will most likely take several more classes to bring the boat all the way back, but when that happens, it will join our fleet of Havens and Herreshoffs in Great Cove!
