What Our Students Are Saying
My week at WoodenBoat School was a magical time. Everything was taken care of beautifully. The feeling of warmth and welcoming is pervasive throughout the school. My sailing instructors were delightful. I became more and more comfortable on the water as my course progressed. I knew nothing about wind, only to be fearful and respectful. But now I watch it, study it, and understand it. Thank you all so much.
E.F., Lexington, Kentucky
Being able to take a class at the WoodenBoat School campus was a dream – the perfect classroom. This was a great experience to share with my mom and I will always remember it.
L.A., Park City, Utah
The physical facilities of WoodenBoat School are outstanding, the working environment in the shop is incredible, and the welcoming nature of every staff member made us feel at home throughout our week on campus.
J.K., Kansas City, Missouri
I have come from the school of hard knocks when it comes to sailing where if you made a mistake you were an idiot. This was just the opposite. A school of gentle instruction where mistakes were welcome. I learned so much in this environment and really appreciated the relaxed attitude and excellent instruction.
T.S., Santa Fe, New Mexico
This place is my personal Mecca!

Take Courses Online With Mastering Skills
WoodenBoat’s Mastering Skills, a membership website dedicated to the craft and related disciplines of wooden boat building. Videos are at the heart of Mastering Skills: we post a new one each month, typically an hour or more in length. In each episode, our host, Rich Hilsinger, the former director of WoodenBoat School, works with master craftspeople to deliver an in-depth lesson on the art and craft of boatbuilding.
